What your AI deployment partner should be telling you. And what it means if they’re not. Jun 24, 2026 That gap is the whole game. It is where transformation happens, or doesn’t. And it is the part that can’t be bought off the shelf, because it lives inside your people, your data, and your processes. So the question is not which model you bought, it’s whether the people building your harness are telling you the truth about what it takes to make a deployment successful. Learn more

App Modernisation: The Enabler of Speedy Business Moves Jun 17, 2024 | min read Cloud MigrationDigital ApplicationCustomer CentricRetail Experience By Leonardo Abdala COVID-19 forever changed customer buying habits. Shifting consumer expectations and company requirements have made a seamless, omnichannel customer experience more important than ever. Modern technology is paramount to enable these changes.Businesses are leveraging innovative solutions to enhance the customer journey and meet new expectations. Below are several strategies and technologies that are transforming the retail landscape, ensuring a more convenient, personalised, and seamless shopping experience for consumers.• Employee hand-held checkout, for instance, enables staff to process transactions anywhere in the store, enhancing customer convenience. • Dynamic digital signage to show real-time product availability and unique offers tailored to consumers. • Real-time inventory visibility for customers increases transparency and confidence by showing them the availability of products both online and in-store. • Click and collect, and Direct to Boot, enables customers to pick up their items, offering a secure and practical alternative to in-store shopping. • Engaging loyalty programs that give consumers exclusive discounts, early access to new items, and personalised rewards may strengthen customer connections and boost repeat business. • Personalised discovery feeds use artificial intelligence and machine learning to suggest products that are pertinent to each consumer, enhancing their shopping experience and fostering brand loyalty. These cutting-edge applications call for platforms that can handle the demands of omnichannel retail, such as scalability, adaptability, and security. Integrating these applications with the company's current IT infrastructure is essential to giving consumers a seamless experience across all channels. Businesses can keep up with the changing demands of the retail sector by investing in contemporary applications and platforms, enhancing customer satisfaction, and boosting revenue.Unfortunately, many organisations still rely on tightly coupled (read: overly complicated) legacy application ecosystems and services that prevent shopping functions catering to evolving consumer needs from being built quickly, especially at scale. Modernising Application modernisation is a crucial strategy for retail organisations looking to maintain competitiveness. It necessitates updating core systems and platforms with more modern development practices and technologies, leading to lower-risk innovation. Several key indicators underscore the necessity for application modernisation expertise, including: 1) Your digital projects took six to twelve months or more to be completed In the fast-paced landscape of retail, where competitors can quickly become first movers, the time taken by a retailer from ideation to execution significantly impacts the business. Each day spent in development without operational implementation translates to lost revenue. Outdated software development practices can prolong the deployment of solutions, leading to delays that can last for years. It is crucial for retailers to adopt modern, agile techniques to streamline the development and deployment process, ensuring timely delivery of products and services to the market. 2) Fear of testing or altering systems due to ramifications Essential to innovation is the testing of new capabilities and applications that drive digital transformation. However, testing new features or capabilities within existing systems can be risky, as it can disrupt the rest of the systems. Decoupled architecture offers a solution by allowing the addition of new features in a more modular fashion, akin to building with independent blocks rather than having everything interconnected. This approach, when combined with efficient testing methods, enables experimentation with reduced risk. 3) Changes to the overall ecosystem are risky and time-consuming, plus it’s not possible to test one change at a time Delaying the release of new functionality or digital experiences due to ongoing projects can hinder controlled feature testing and prolong the rollout. Successful retailers remain top-of-mind with consumers by enhancing the shopping experience in real time. Modernised ecosystems facilitate rapid adaptations and continuous fine-tuning—or frequent updates to production. 4) Rigid systems limit personalised customer experience As industry and consumer trends evolve, retailers must recognise the importance of incorporating dynamic elements into the shopping experience. For example, with the increased adoption of omnichannel services, retailers who provide real-time order modification options from 'buy online, pick up in store' to click and collect demonstrate a modern approach to customer experience (CX). Traditional organisations often rely on outdated legacy applications, resulting in rigid systems. This rigidity hinders their ability to implement important but smaller-scale updates, requiring significant effort or even rendering such changes impossible. 5) Technology-based business decisions are often feared due to their high cost and difficulty in reversal For all the reasons above, even the most minor digital transformation efforts can feel like large undertakings. Fear and hesitation surrounding the IT work required to build new capabilities are significant indications that the existing approach is too burdensome. If crucial technology projects are consistently shrouded in concerns reminiscent of toppling a delicate house of cards, we can change that. In this fast-paced shopping world, businesses need to be nimble and flexible to keep up with what customers want. CI&T specialises in technology solutions that streamline the path to purchase and optimise customer experiences. Organisations shouldn't be apprehensive about adjusting their purchasing processes to meet current and future customer demands. Speed, flexible technology, and seamless implementation are paramount for innovation. This often necessitates the modernisation of applications to ensure alignment with ever-evolving requirements.
