TRANSFORMING TECHNOLOGY FOR GREATER EFFICIENCY & COST SAVINGS For Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros Learn more INTRODUCTION Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros, part of Asia's largest insurance group, faced a pressing challenge in Brazil. The high licensing costs of a tool essential for orchestrating the integration of systems managing mass insurance quotations proved to be a significant burden. The company needed to identify an efficient and cost-effective solution for this vital process to remain competitive and adapt to evolving calculation rules. That's when CI&T stepped in to bring Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros' vision for a proprietary orchestrator to life. Their goal was to drastically reduce costs while enhancing operational performance, modernising the technology in use, and ensuring ease of maintenance for the client. PROJECT DETAILS Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros approached CI&T with a clear objective: to develop a solution that would replace the costly tool used for orchestrating the integrations of mass insurance quotation calculations.Building on the latest versions of Java and .NET, the new solution emerged as a cloud-native proprietary orchestrator. This enabled Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros to seamlessly integrate the systems responsible for mass insurance quotations while retaining the flexibility to customise the process. Additionally, the implementation of an anti-corruption layer for compatibility with legacy resources enhanced both the integration's performance and functionality. Everything was meticulously documented, ensuring ease of maintenance for the client.A nova solução do orquestrador em um curto espaço de tempo trouxe os seguintes ganhos: A dramatic reduction in annual licensing costs Approximately $1 million in annual licensing costs was replaced by a one-time investment of less than $100,000 in the project with CI&T, along with a minimal monthly cloud cost. 54% reduction in quotation calculation time Positive, spontaneous feedback from users regarding the noticeable improvement in the process. Close to zero effort in the maintenance of the new solution. High scalability with new features in the cloud, allowing for rapid responses to the peaks in usage of the new solution. “In less than a month, we established a new squad with CI&T. Within just five months, we successfully launched this orchestrator, which brought a significant improvement: it was designed entirely for cloud operation. We executed an aggressive rollout, migrating 100% of the broker base in just three weeks, and quickly realised that our hardware resources would not be sufficient. If the solution had been on-premise like the previous one, we would have faced at least half a day of downtime in our calculations, resulting in losses and headaches. However, in this cloud scenario, we gained tremendous scalability and resolved everything in just 10 minutes. Previously, each calculation took approximately 1.5 seconds, which was already a strong KPI compared to the market. With the new solution, we reduced that time to 0.7 seconds, all at a significantly lower annual cost than before. This was a remarkable success for the partnership between Mitsui and CI&T..” Gabriel Cortez, IT Development Manager at Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros. CONCLUSION The modernisation initiative conceived by Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros and executed in partnership with CI&T not only resulted in significant annual savings for the insurer but also improved efficiency in the quotation process, reducing calculation time by 54%. With the elimination of high costs and the modernisation of technology, Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros is now better equipped to compete in the insurance market.Mitsui Sumitomo Seguros's engagement, extensive business knowledge, and technical expertise, combined with CI&T's, were crucial to the success of this initiative. This highlights the immense transformative potential of our partnerships.
