INVENTORY & ORDER MANAGMENT SOLUTION

Transforming Order Management for a Leading Global Manufacturer

Client Overview

A leading global manufacturer of disposable contact lenses, renowned for pioneering a top contact lens brand. As part of their MedTech portfolio, they focus on enhancing vision through innovative technology and comprehensive eye health solutions.

Unmanaged and unorganized contact lenses stock room.

The Challenge

For this client, ensuring that clinics and big retailers were well-stocked with trial contact lenses was critical, as new customers typically adopt the brand they try on for the first time. However, the process for checking stockroom drawers and replenishing inventory was highly ineffective. Sales representatives were burdened by an inefficient, manual, spreadsheet-based process. As a result, reps saw their valuable time shrinking with doctors, prompting the client to seek a way to drastically increase their sales team's efficiency.

Our Approach

To transform this experience, our team partnered with the client to modernize their order management system. Utilizing a Design Thinking methodology, our team directly followed the Sales Representative Journey. By shadowing the reps, the team was able to watch the manual, spreadsheet-based inventory replenishment process firsthand to deeply understand the workflow bottlenecks.

The Solution

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

Based on these observations, our UX team designed a streamlined digital solution tailored to the reps' specific needs. They developed a dedicated iPad app that visually mimics the physical contact lens inventory drawers. To make replenishment as intuitive as possible, the app allows sales reps to add order items to their cart simply by touching the virtual drawing on the screen.

The Impact

By replacing cumbersome spreadsheets with a visual, touch-based mobile ordering system, we successfully transformed the client's order management journey. The new iPad app effectively eliminated the previous inefficiencies of checking stockrooms, ultimately freeing up the sales representatives' time so they could focus on building relationships with doctors rather than managing inventory.
