More than celebrating, it's being able to be proud

CI&T promoted, for the first time, a global month of campaign of the LGBTQIAP+ group, including a Tech Voices: Pride Edition for our Portuguese-speaking community, and awareness and dialogue actions at our headquarters in the Northern Hemisphere. Although we've carried out campaigns in June before, nothing has been as big and ambitious as what we did in 2022.

We, who organize ourselves through action groups, communities of collaborating people with the mission of fostering strategies of belonging, attraction and promotion of diversity, build our own space to shine, attract people who are companions of the cause, and of course, have fun and be proud of who we are.

Below, we tell you, through several voices, a little about what we did and where we were in this Pride Month 2022.

São Paulo Trans March, Brazil

Antonia Moreira, copywriter and branding analyst
As a brand, we supported the Trans Pride March in São Paulo, an important event that showcases diverse trans and travesti talents. I had the pleasure of going to the city on the day, in a warm breath of the Brazilian winter, and meeting with CI&Ters from the CI&Trans community, our trans and travesti affinity group.

Particularly, as a black travesti from the global south, being in a company like this, which not only welcomes me, but enhances my worldview, makes me warm-hearted.

Campinas LGBTQIAP+ Parade

Alex Furquim, Diversity and Inclusion Analyst
As CI&T's LGBTQIAP+ Action Group, the objective of this year 2022 is to strengthen our brand in favor of diversity and, in this way, one of our actions was to expose the CI&T brand in two important events for our community; as well as participating in the 5th Trans and Travesti Pride March in São Paulo, we were also attending the 22nd LGBTQIAP+ Pride Parade in Campinas.

Our goal with this brand activation was to make LGBTQIAP+ people better know CI&T as a safe space for their career development. To achieve this result, we gathered CI&Ters on the day of the parade, distributed gifts and support to the local community in its struggle for voice.

It was a very pleasant afternoon, where, in addition to feeling belonging to this company that welcomes us, we were also able to take some of our work to other people, in addition to having fun, of course.

Tech Voices: Pride Edition

Tech Voices is an event that raises debates within technology about underrepresented groups. From its first edition in October 2021, the Black Edition, through the Women Edition, to this Pride, the event has brought our CI&T community to the stage to showcase their intellectual productions and issues pertinent to our time.

Arthur Guimarães Silva, developer at CI&T
It was very gratifying for me to participate for the first time in a community event here at CI&T. I wanted to bring content to help people in our community and I think I got what I wanted. It was very beautiful and I was very happy with the reception I had.

With more than 1,200 views, the event was attended by CI&Ters in North America, and connected our Portuguese-speaking community from Brazil to Portugal.

Campaign in the Northern Hemisphere

Brittany Bronson, ESG specialist
In North America we had 7 hours of training, commemorative programs and workshops to provide LGBTQIA+ education and resources. We had at least 3 executives attending all of our events. We also infused the theme of Pride and the LGBTQIA+ alliance at our Parent-Career ERG meeting this month.

Daniel Zanchetta, Business Director and Member of the US LGBTQIAP+ Discussion Group
For me, this month was special because I saw a very united team and engaged in putting together a very special program with results that really filled us with Pride!

In the US/Canada we did panels with our local LGBTQIA+ community that were very rich and engaging. In Brazil, seeing for the first time CI&T participating in a Pride Parade (Campinas) was something remarkable and that will stay forever in CI&T’s story!

A Portuguese perspective

Beatriz Varela, developer at CI&T Portugal
June is a very easy month to romanticize, because it's that time of the year when we finally have initiatives aimed at us, LGBTQIA+ people. It's a month that feels so good, that gives us a warm heart - knowing that the Lisbon Pride March had more than 25,000 people marching and that Lisbon Arraial Pride broke the record of participants, with 100,000 people celebrating their colors and/or being proud allies.

The most unexpected initiative for me was that of Fox Life Portugal with the project "ABC LGBTQIA+", which had the consultancy of ILGA Portugal, and which made known, mainly to people not so well informed, the various terms related to the LGBTQIA+ community.

I want to keep fighting so that June is not just a month in the year, but that it becomes the deserved normalization of respect policies.

There were more than 14 hours, between actions, talks and a lot of pride globally spread by CI&T. June, as a climax, but not an end in itself. A big stage that will keep growing, this month and forever.
